7-Day Family Itinerary at Grand Hyatt Kauai

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa sits on Poipu Beach — popular with families who want lagoon days, a water slide, and spa time without leaving the property. That said, the best Kauai weeks also step just outside the gates: walk or take a short drive to Puka Dog for Hawaiian-style hot dogs, grab a cocktail or dessert at Stevenson’s Library in the lobby, book a treatment or fresh spa café treat at Anara Spa, or book dinner nearby at Merriman’s Kauai in Poipu.

This pacing plan turns the resort’s lagoon, trails, and hyper-local South Shore spots into an easy week for two adults and two kids.

• Day 1 — Arrival & Garden Pool Check-In: Fly from your West Coast hub into LIH airport, pick up the rental car, and head to Poipu. Check into your Queen Queen Partial Ocean View room, settle onto the lanai, and ease into the evening with a first swim — or a low-key drink and dessert at Stevenson’s Library inside the Grand Hyatt.
• Day 2 — Saltwater Lagoon & River Pools: Spend a dedicated day on the resort’s 1.5-acre saltwater lagoon and cascading river pools — sandy beach edges, waterfalls, and grottos that keep the whole family busy without leaving the grounds.
• Day 3 — Shipwreck Beach & Heritage Trail Hike: Take an early morning family walk along the coastal Mahaʻulepu Heritage Trail directly from the property, then cool off at Shipwreck Beach before an afternoon back at the lagoon.
